ComicsPRO, the new comic retailer organization founded last year (see 'A New Direct Market Comics Retailer Organization'), has announced a health insurance for comic retailers and their employees.  The program is being launched through Assurant Health, which will offer PPOs, health reimbursement accounts, health savings accounts, and other alternatives.  ComicsPRO members will receive preferential rates, according to the announcement.    

This marks the second trade association for independent retailers to offer a health insurance program; GAMA is the other (see 'GAMA Offers Health Insurance for Members').  Health care is a difficult problem for independent retailers; these trade association programs offer some of the benefits of large groups, while serving a disparate group of small businesses.
