The Los Angeles-based Organic Hobby Inc. has announced a series of eight 4-2/3' blind box trading figures featuring cute girls in a variety of gothic servant's costumes.  The Maid Cafe Collection reflects one of the hottest trends in Japan, Maid Cafes, which have sprouted up all over Akihabara, the otaku-heavy electronic-retailing section of Tokyo.  'Maid Cafe' is actually a sort of generic term given to a variety of shops, stores and eateries where the female staff dresses up in a variety of different costumes (Gothic Lolita versions of the typical French Maid's outfit are popular, but so are cosplay-like replications of popular anime and manga outfits) and treat male customers with the excessive deference typical of a Victorian master/servant relationship.

Organic Hobby's Maid Cafe Collection comes in a ten-box counter display, which contains all eight of the standard figures along with a secret figure.  The figures, which are blind-boxed, have a suggested retail in the neighborhood of $7.50 and will be available to retailers in September.
