Marvel Studios has announced that Hulk 2, the second film produced by Marvel through its $525 million non-recourse film financing facility, will be released on June 27th, 2008.  Louis Leterrier (Transporter 2, Unleashed) will direct the Hulk sequel from a script by Zak Penn (X2, X-Men: The Last Stand).  After the intellectually ambitious original Hulk film directed by Ang Lee scored only mediocre returns as the box office, Marvel promised that Hulk 2 would return the Green Goliath to his action-packed pulp roots.

Universal, which produced the Ang Lee Hulk movie, had the rights to a sequel, but let them lapse (see 'Marvel Happy to Reclaim Hulk').  As part of the agreement to regain the rights for the Hulk sequel, Marvel agreed to let Universal distribute the film.

Iron Man, which is slated to debut on May 2nd, 2008, and Hulk 2 are the first films that Marvel is producing itself via Marvel Studios (see 'Marvel Movie Slate Takes Shape').
