4Kids Entertainment's sales for the quarter ending on June 30th declined from $16.7 million in Q2 of 2006 to $12.0 million this year, resulting in a net loss of $2.2 million for the three-month period.  But 4Kids Chairman and CEO Alfred R. Kahn noted that during the first half of 2007 the company had invested some $3 million in the company's digital assets and its start-up card manufacturing facility, primarily in support of the delayed Chaotic Trading Card Game.  The launch of the Chaotic TCG has been delayed several times, most recently in June when it was pushed back to late summer (see 'Chaotic TCG Debut Delayed').  While not pleased with his company's performance during the first half of 2007, Kahn expressed excitement about 'the much anticipated launch of the Chaotic card game and website, which we expect will occur this October.'

Kahn was also pleased by the improved performance of the company's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles property, which benefited from the March release of the TMNT movie.  In addition Kahn is expecting some help from the 2007-2008 season of the 4Kids Saturday morning block on the Fox network, which will see the release of new episodes of 4Kids' Chaos and Viva Pinata series, but it appears quite clear from the investments that the company has made that its major hopes for a return to profitability rest with the Chaotic TCG.
