John Jelley of Pyrimid Comics & Games in Sierra Vista, Arizona saw the news about a McCain spokesperson's disparaging comments about D&D players (see “McCain Camp Links Obama Supporters to 'D&D'”) and says it’s “disturbing that Mr. Goldfarb would assume that all people who play such games would be stupid liberal hippies:”

I served for 12 years in the U.S. Army, 5th Special Forces, am now a disabled veteran, and have always served my country when I am asked to.  I also happen to own Pyrimid Comics & Games in Sierra Vista, Arizona.  And, I also have played Dungeons & Dragons, as well as many other games, since its inception in 1976.  I am not an Obama nor a McCain supporter.

I find it disturbing that Mr. Goldfarb would assume that all people who play such games would be stupid liberal hippies, when in fact "gamers" are usually more educated, well spoken, conservative, well read, and when given clear facts about the issues will make a more informed decision based on the facts and less on emotion.

I would hope that in the future that politicians would not lump people who play Dungeons & Dragons (many of whom are in or are former military) in with the patchouli smelling, hippie freaks that want nothing more than to turn these great United States into the next socialist, mediocre, second rate nation.

This being said, I am not endorsing, and no other game store owner should endorse any political party.  This is a personal decision that we all should make on our own.  Our job is to sell product, make money and enjoy life.  If we wanted to get rich or be political there are plenty of other jobs out there we could be doing.
