Jay Adan of Greenfield Games in Greenfield, Massachusetts saw ICv2’s recent review of Upper Deck’s upcoming World of Warcraft Miniatures Game (see “Review of 'World of Warcraft Miniatures Game'”) and found it “pretty superficial:”

Your WoW Minis review seemed pretty superficial.  I don't disagree with any of the conclusions, but it felt like a review based on playing the demo materials--not on actually playing the full game.  The problem with that kind of review is that it potentially does a disservice to the game.

A demo is only a brief glimpse of a collectible game.  A lot of a game's real appeal (or flaws) may not be apparent in a demo.  After trying out the demo materials that our store was sent I felt there was potential there, but also some possible problems.  I wasn't sure that the game would have a lot of depth.  Without being able to look at the scope of cards and stats for other miniatures or trying the game with its intended number of minis (three per side instead of the two furnished with the demo) I wouldn't be able to render my final verdict on this product line.

So, my point is that I hope that this wasn't just a review of the demo kit and that the reviewer had access to more than I did when I tried it out.  If he didn't this should have been mentioned and probably shouldn't have been listed as a review of the game.  At best it's an overview of the game mechanics.
