Wizards of the Coast has a number of Dungeons & Dragons releases planned for the latter part of 2009, including a new Dungeon Master’s Guide (see “D&D Game Day Events”). Other releases include rulebooks that add depth to various types of characters and monsters, a Dragon magazine compilation, a new set of miniatures, and other accessories.

September sees the release of the Dungeon Master’s Guide 2 (MSRP $34.95). Meant to be used in conjunction with the original Dungeon Master’s Guide, the DMG2 focuses on running campaigns for characters levels 11 through 20 (the paragon tier). It also includes additional rules for villain construction, skill challenges, campaign arcs, and other storytelling

tips. Also out in September is the D&D Dragon Magazine Annual, Volume 1 ($29.95), featuring the best from the previous year of Dragon magazine.

Headlining October’s releases is Primal Power ($29.95), a handbook for characters that draw their abilities from primal sources, such as the barbarian and druid. Prince of Undeath ($24.95) is an adventure geared for characters with levels in their high 20s, pitting them against the demon prince Orcus. And the Sinister Woods Dungeon Tiles ($9.95) allow players to map out their adventures and battles on a wide variety of natural and fantastic outdoor terrain.

November brings the Draconomicon 2: Metallic Dragons, detailing gold, silver, copper, iron, adamantine, and other metallic dragons and ways to incorporate them into a campaign. The Monster Manual: Savage Encounters ($14.99 per booster) expansion for Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures includes 40 pre-painted minis, while Arcane Power Cards ($3.95) are designed as game aids for powers, cutting down on the amount of time spent hunting through a rulebook for power descriptions.
