After four years of creating and selling minis, Wyrd Miniatures has finally released a game specifically designed for their unique line.  Malifaux is the first game by designer Erik Johns, who told ICv2 that he created it for the fans that wanted a game to play with their Wyrd miniatures.

Set in a gothic horror/steampunk version of earth, Malifaux presents a world that combines magic, monsters, and steam-powered machines with the lawlessness of the Wild West.  The game is a 32mm scale tabletop miniatures skirmish game.  Unlike other tabletop games, Malifaux is card-driven rather than dice-based.  It is designed to play with small battles (using two to four miniatures on a side) as well as larger engagements.

The core rulebook is a 216-page full-color softcover ($35.00 MSRP).  Each player also needs his own Fate Deck to play.  All Fate Deck sets are the same, with five different colors available.  Suggested retail price is $7.25 each.  Stat cards are included in the package with each miniature, and Faction Stats decks for each faction in the game can be purchased separately, with a suggested retail of $5.00.

The second book in the Malifaux game line is expected to release at Gen Con.
