Hasbro has announced plans for a 'Games Make Great Gifts' marketing campaign, which will launch November 1st and run through the holiday season.  The campaign will use actress Jamie Lee Curtis as spokesperson, and include national TV advertising, FSIs, POS and Web support.  A mail-in rebate will be delivered via the FSIs, in-store tear pads, and on the Web.

The program will support twelve of Hasbro's most popular games:  Monopoly, Clue, Twister, The Game of Life, Operation, Scrabble, Sorry, Trouble, Connect Four, Guess Who?, Battleship, and Jenga.

Although the games supported are primarily mass merchant products, the message, that 'games are a great way for families and friends to spend time together,' is all good, and may have a spillover effect on the sales of games as a category.

Hasbro may be trying to shore up sales of its board games, which slipped last year (see 'Hasbro Games Down 12%').
