The Spoils, the new 'Tournament Card Game' (CCG) from Tenacious Games (see 'Tenacious Games Lays Plans'), is selling far above what the company expected, according to CEO Scott Dodson.  Initial sell-in was roughly double anticipated orders, and reorders from distributors since the product was released two weeks ago are roughly half initial orders.

Dodson told us that he believes that the percentage of stores supporting the game is still fairly low, but that the stores that are carrying it are selling it very well (the player count per store participating in the Open Beta program was also fairly high, see 'Nearly 500 Game Stores Ran Spoils').  The response at Gen Con SoCal was also strong, according to Dodson.

The launch was supported by pre-release organized play (The Spoils Open Beta) with free cards.  Launch events kicked off the release of Booster Packs and Tournament Packs the weekend of November 11th and 12th.  And Tenacious is mounting an ambitious tournament structure, with $1 million in cash prizes (see 'The Spoils Tournament Experience'), that is firing up hard-core players.

Dodson said that there was sufficient supply to meet the demand, and that it was a company philosophy to make enough product available on its initial releases to support play.
