In my 2012 book Comic-Con and the Business of Pop Culture, I took a look at the state of the comics industry, its relationship with 21st century popular culture, and the changing nature of its audience. Toward the end, I made a few forecasts about where current trends might lead us. These weren’t predictions per se; they were scenarios of how comics would play a greater or lesser role in the entertainment business, depending on the outcome of a few uncertainties.
