Gary Ross, who’s rewriting Spider-Man 4 (see “Gary Ross to Rewrite Spidey 4”) is now rewriting the Venom script, and will also direct, according to the Hollywood trades.  This will be at least the third draft of the Venom script; the most recent version was by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (Zombieland, see “Maguire, Raimi on Spider-Man 4”).

Spidey 4 is set to release in 2011 (see “Spidey Snags IMAX Venues”); there’s no date set for Venom yet.
