Actor Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away at the age of 54.  The muscular, 6-foot-5-inch, 300-pound actor was a former bodyguard whose acting career was jump-started when he was nominated for an Oscar for his first major role as gentle giant John Coffey, a convicted murderer with a healing touch, in Frank Darabont’s 1999 film of Stephen King’s The Green Mile.  Duncan will be familiar to fans of comic book-based movies for his roles as Kingpin in the 2003 Daredevil film and as the head mercenary Manute in Sin City in 2005.  Duncan had a rich, gravely baritone voice and was often called upon for voiceover work such providing the voice for Kilowog in the ill-fated 2010 Green Lantern film.

Duncan suffered a myocardial infarction on July 13th. He was released from the hospital in early August, but he was never able to recover fully and suffered a fatal heart attack over the weekend.
