Isaac Asimov's classic I, Robot stories are headed for the screen in a big budget film version from Twentieth Century Fox that is set to start shooting in May.  Will Smith will star as a detective investigating a crime that may have been committed by a robot.  Alan Tudyk (A Knight's Tale, Firefly) will have the thankless task of providing the 'animation reference' for the computer-generated robot, Sonny in much the same manner that Andy Serkis did for the CGI character Gollum in Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.   If everything goes as planned, I, Robot could be a tentpole for Fox's summer 2004 campaign.
