As expected the CW network announced today that the DC Comics-based Arrow will be back for a second season. Arrow, which is a realistic take on DC’s Green Arrow comic book character posted the CW’s most watched premiere since 2009, and has consistently topped the network’s schedule in overall ratings. With some strong guest stars slated for upcoming episodes including Doctor Who’s Alex Kingston (see "Alex Kingston of 'Doctor Who' Joins 'Arrow'"), it is unlikely that Arrow will suffer many viewer defections during the second half of its debut season.
The CW also announced renewals for Vampire Diaries (the net’s most popular show with the coveted young demographic) and Supernatural, the network’s longest running series, which has been on the air for eight seasons.
