Sony Pictures Television is producing a pilot based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s Preacher for AMC. The show is being developed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg (Green Hornet, This Is the End) and Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad) through Neal Moritz’s Original Pictures. AMC got the North American rights after bidding by other networks.
Preacher has had a long development history, most recently as a feature film with D.J. Caruso directing (after Sam Mendes left the project, see "'Preacher' Gets Director").
