Anime director Satoshi Kon (Millenium Actress, Perfect Blue, Roujin Z) will be a Guest of Honor at the Big Apple Anime Fest (Aug. 29-31). Kon will be honored with a retrospective of his films and he will present his latest film, Tokyo Godfathers at the festival. Produced by MadHouse, perhaps Japan's leading animation studio, Tokyo Godfathers is the story of three homeless people who accidentally stumble upon an abandoned baby at a garbage dump. The plot is very similar to Three Godfathers, a John Ford film that has been remade numerous times in Hollywood. Three characters, who have basically thrown their lives away, find new meaning and new opportunities thanks to the unexpected responsibilities forced upon them by the discovery of a newborn.
