Marc Webb will direct The Amazing Spider-Man 3, according to Variety, completing his hat trick on the reboot trilogy. The second movie isn’t due out until May 2, of course (see "New 'Spider-Man 2' Trailer"), but it’s becoming increasingly common for work to begin on the next in a franchise series before the last has been released.
Sony plans to up its Marvel movie schedule to one movie per year, Sony Pictures co-chairman Amy Pascal told Variety, which it will be able to do by alternating Spider-Man movies with movies featuring other characters from the universe. The studio has recently announced plans for Venom and Sinister Six movies, in its own interlocking mini-Marvel universe (see "'Venom,' 'Sinister Six' Movies").
