After denying it on his Twitter account last week, William Shatner confirmed this weekend that he had been approached by J.J. Abrams for a role in Star Trek 3 and he said he "would be delighted to do it," TrekMovie.com is reporting.
At his Saturday panel at Nashville Comic Con, Shatner revealed he had recently had a conversation with JJ Abrams (who is producing the next Star Trek movie). "So he calls and says 'I'm calling, Bill, because the director of the Star Trek movie, the next one, has had an idea where you might be involved in it. So I am calling to see if you would be interested.' I said 'Oh, yeah. If it is meaningful.'"
"I said 'I would be delighted,'" Shatner continued, and explained he was admitting everything now because the internet rumors had already been confirmed by director and co-screenwriter Roberto Orci (see "'Star Trek 3' Writer May Direct"), though in truth, Orci only said he could neither confirm nor deny the rumor.
