Margot Robbie, who first drew attention in Wolf of Wall Street, is in talks to play Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, according to Collider. The film will be directed by David Ayer (see "'Suicide Squad' Names a Director"), and released on August 5, 2016 (see "Warners Announces Nine More DC Movies").
Robbie could be lining up multiple roles with serious geek appeal; she was also reported to be in talks to star in the live action adaptation of Ghost in the Shell (see "'Wolf of Wall Street' Star in Talks for 'Ghost in the Shell'").
Meanwhile, Jared Leto is being eyed to play Joker in the film, according to The Wrap. Like Robbie, Leto has also been reported as in the running for another role in a geek film, in his case Doctor Strange (see "Joaquin Phoenix Out as Doctor Strange").
