Vertigo announced Amped, a new miniseries by Supernatural creator Eric Kripke, which is also in early series development at USA Network. The comic series was announced at the same time the cable network announced its new slate of fall shows and projects in early development, which were reported by Variety.

Vertigo will release the six-issue series this fall. Kripke will write, with interior art by John Higgins (Watchmen, Batman: The Killing Joke) and covers by Brian Bolland (Judge Dredd, Batman: The Killing Joke).

The series follows Josh Jaffe, a harried family man who purchases an online “smart pill” to help him focus better, but the pill instead give him superhuman strength and power. Now Josh will have to cope with the real life highs and lows of being a superhero.

For the USA Network project, Kripke will serve as executive producer and writer.  Kripke, who was showrunner of Supernatural and Revolution, also worked to develop a Sandman TV project for Warner Bros. a few years ago (see “'Sandman' TV Series Torpedoed”).
