Comic Con News: On the eve of Comic-Con, publishing start-up AfterShock Comics announced the writers for the company’s first wave of comic books, and it is a very impressive list of scribes headed by Garth Ennis (Preacher), who will be joined by industry veterans Jimmy Palmiotti (Deadpool), Amanda Connor (Harley Quinn), Paul Jenkins (Spider-Man), Justin Jordan (Superboy), Phil Hester (Ant-Man), Frank Barbiere (Avengers), and Marguerite Bennett (Batgirl).

Just launched in April by former Marvel (and DC) editor Mike Marts and former Caliber and Desperado editor Joe Pruett, AfterShock is typical of many of the new comic publishing start-ups in that its executive roster includes plenty of folks with motion picture connections as well as some silicon valley investment capital (see “New Publisher Formed With Marts, Pruett”).

Deadline reports that Neil Gaiman will also contribute a short story to AfterShock’s first prose anthology, which will also include stories from Jim Starlin, Amy Chu, and Brian Stelfreeze.
