Amber Heard is in talks with Warner Bros. to play Mera in the upcoming Aquaman movie. If cast, Heard will make her first appearance as the character in The Justice League.

Heard (Zombieland, Pineapple Express) would star opposite Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones, Stargate: Atlantis), as Mera, eventual queen of Atlantis and love interest to Aquaman. Mera has numerous powers, including controlling and solidifying water. Her introduction in The Justice League would be one of many threads beginning in that movie, which is designed to solidify a launch of the DC Cinematic Universe (see "Warners Announces 9 More DC Movies").

James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring, Saw) is set to direct Aquaman; Zack Snyder (Batman v. Superman, 300) will direct The Justice League and serve as producer on both movies, along with Deborah Snyder (Man of Steel, Sucker Punch), and Charles Roven (Man of Steel, The Dark Knight).

Justice League has a scheduled November 17, 2017 release date; Aquaman arrives shortly thereafter, on July 17, 2018.
