Diamond Select Toys, which has been producing toys based on the classic 1984 Ghostbusters film since 2009, has announced an agreement with Sony Pictures to produce a variety of products, including Minimates mini-figures, vehicles, vinyl banks, glassware, and kitchenware based on Paul Feig’s new 2016 Ghostbusters film.  DST promises a full line of Minimates figures (2 inches high with 14 points of articulation) including all four Ghostbusters principals as well as their supporting cast members.

The Ghostbusters franchise, which is based on the 1984 film and its 1989 sequel, has long been a favorite with collectors, who have been waiting for a third Ghostbusters film for almost two decades.  This July they will get their wish with the release of Paul Feig’s Ghostbusters, which features an all-female team of spirit-blasters (see “New Ghostbusters Character Posters”), and some delightful role-reversals that stand gender-stereotypes on their collective ear (see “First Shot of Ghostbusters Secretary Chris Hemsworth”).
