Marvel Comics will collect its hip-hop variant covers in a hardcover collection, which it's describing as "straight outta comics," this fall. Marvel: The Hip-Hop Covers Vol. 1 HC will release on September 7.
Marvel began releasing the hip-hop variant covers, modeled after iconic album covers, in October 2015 (see "Preview: Fall Hip-Hop Variant Covers"). The collection will feature 70 covers, from A-Force to the X-Men, reimaged by artists including Adam Hughes, Brian Stelfreeze, Jim Cheung, Mike Del Mundo, Sanford Greene, Jenny Frison, Phil Noto, Mahmud Asrar, Damion Scott, Tim Bradstreet, Keron Grant and Ed Piskor. In addition to the finished covers, the book will include behind-the-scenes sketches, and an introduction by award-winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates, who is a National Book Award winner, a recent MacArthur Genius Grant recipient, and current writer of Black Panther.
The 168-page hardcover has an MSRP of $34.99. The book is rated T+.
