Toy Fair News: At New York Toy Fair, Diamond Select Toys was showing off their upcoming releases. ICv2 spoke with Zach Oat to learn more about the products.
There were two new Marvel Premier Collection statues on display, Rogue sculpted by Clayburn Moore, and Gamora sculpted by Jean St. Jean. Both carry an MSRP of $150.00. Release is planned for fall.
The company is also doing new Select Action Figures for Mallrats. "We’re doing four figures, including Shannon Dougherty as Renee. ...the action figures are brand new and they’ll be coming out starting late summer," Oat said. "They come with diorama pieces, the backdrops of the mall and accessories and that sort of thing. It’s a larger package for display." MSRP is $24.99.
There were also new Minimates from the various Predator movies. They will be offered in two-packs ($9.99/June) and single pack blind bag series ($5.99/July).

Diamond Select was also debuting its new line of 4-inch vinyl figures. "We just released our first two--The classic X-Files ones. We’ve got modern X-Files [not yet released], Back to the Future, Predator, Lost in Space, Alien, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Ghostbusters," said Oat. "They’re not posable, but they have articulated necks so you can tilt the head up and down and left and right. It helps give them a little bit of personality."
There are new Aliens Minimates planned for Fall 2016 ($9.99), and an armored personnel carrier ($29.99) planned for Winter 2016 release (not pictured). "It’ll hold five Aliens Minimates and comes with an exclusive figure of Lt. Gorman, the commander from the movie. We’re looking for a winter, end of the year release date on that. It’s a lot of fun. It’s one of the more elaborate vehicles we’ve done for the Minimates line, and we’ve made a few."
"We have the Netflix license now for the Minimates," Oat said. "So this is a box set based on Daredevil and Jessica Jones."
Diamond Select was also showing off its 68th series of Marvel Minimates, based on Giant Sized X-Men. "It’s our first ever 616 universe Sunfire," said Oat. "We haven’t made a Thunderbird in a very long time." (See gallery.)
There were several Marvel Gallery PVC figures ($45.00). including Ant-Man and Spider-Gwen, also on display.
A Star Trek Select action figure of Khan, from Wrath of Khan which includes interchangeable parts, was also being showcased. "And we’re going to be bringing back Original Series Star Trek Minimates for the 50th anniversary," said Oat. "We’re going to be doing a series of 2-packs of the original crew in their original outfits and Kirk will come with his command chair as you can see there. They’re previously released product but they are coming back."
"We’ve shown the Daredevil and Deadpool retro sets but we haven’t shown any of these model kits," Oat said. "These are glue yourself, paint yourself model kits. We’ve been reissuing some of the model kits from the 60s and 70s of Hulk and Captain America and Spider-Man and a 90s one of Wolverine, but now we’re creating our own based on different characters who never had model kits before."
Ghostbusters Minimates and more can be seen in the gallery below.
