British game publisher Steamforged has announced the U.S. release of the rulebook for its medieval fantasy football game Guild Ball, scheduled for March.

Guild Ball is set in a medieval fantasy world where powerful but shadowy guilds have taken control of the popular sport of Mob Football, in which opposing teams try to kick a leather ball into their opponent’s goal, similar to the game we Americans know as soccer.  The game is played with miniatures on the tabletop, using a dice-based system to resolve actions and attacks against opposing players.  Points are awarded for scoring goals or eliminating opposing models.

The Guild Ball A4 Rulebook includes all of the rules needed to play the game, as well as a history of the game’s fantasy world setting and the most famous players of the game.  The book features a protective slipcover.

In addition to the Rulebook, game cards, templates, tokens, and miniatures will also be available.

Steamforged will continue to support Guild Ball with new material, and is currently in its “Season 2,” which will introduce new campaign game mechanics, players, and teams.
