Tokyopop has announced a new October DVD release, Anime: Concept To Reality, which serves as an introduction to the world of do-it-yourself computer animation.  In addition to two animated short features, 'Understanding Chaos' and 'Shadowskin,' the $14.99 (srp) DVD includes a 20-minute how-to segment that explains how to create your own anime from start to finish, including character design, 3D imaging, voice-over, scoring, and editing.  This DVD is the anime equivalent of those popular 'How To Draw Manga' books, and it explains the kind of hardware and software that prospective anime creators will need.  Since many fans have access to the requisite hardware, it is the affordable and easy-to-use software that is the key to creating their own CGI anime.

Given the popularity of 'how-to' books, this is one DVD that even retailers who don't normally carry DVDs should consider.  Anime: Concept To Reality has a running time of 100 minutes, a rating of 13+ and ships to retailers on October 28.
