A new game based on the perennial fan favorite series The Lord of the Rings is coming from Fantasy Flight Games: Journey to Mordor. Release is planned for Q4.

In The Lord of the Rings: Journey to Mordor, players assume the role of the famous hobbits racing to drop the dreaded One Ring into the fiery Mount Doom before the evil Nazgul can get there first.  The game uses five custom dice with different symbols representing the Hobbits’ allies in the Fellowship as well as the Orcs and Nazgul of the enemy.  After each roll, the player must choose which dice symbols to keep and which to reroll, deciding when to play it safe or push their luck, with the final result on the dice determining how far along their path the Hobbits and Nazgul move that turn.

Each player tracks the progress of their Hobbit and the Nazgul chasing them on their own score sheet depicting the lands of Middle-earth. The first player to complete their path without being eliminated by the Nazgul wins the game.

The Lord of the Rings: Journey to Mordor is a game for 2 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and plays in less than half an hour.  MSRP is $12.95.  The game was designed by Michael Rieneck (The Pillars of the Earth, Cuba).
