ADV Films has announced the November release of the first volume of Pretear, the anime series created in 2001 by Kaori Naruse and Junicho Sato, the director of the first season of Sailor Moon and creator of Kaleido Star.  Pretear is a mahou shoujo (loosely translated as 'magical girl') series, which combines elements from Cinderella (evil stepsisters) and Snow White (seven knights instead of seven dwarves).  The 'magical girl' is an ordinary 16-year-old, whose life is disrupted when her father remarries.  Little does she realize that she is the 'Pretear,' a special girl, who when merged with a knight transforms into the only force capable of defeating the Princess of Disaster.

The first volume of Pretear (SRP $29.98) contains four episodes and includes both an English dub and a Japanese soundtrack (with English subtitles).  The series is known for its music, especially the opening song 'White Destiny,' which is sung by the sensational idol singer Yoko Ishida.  Extras include: voice actor interviews; production sketches; clean opening and closing animation; and ADV previews.
