Amy Chu (Poison Ivy, KISS) will co-write a new KISS spinoff miniseries with Erik Burnham (Back to the Future, Ghostbusters) focusing on the band’s bass player and co-founder Gene Simmons. KISS: The Demon will be drawn by Eman Cassallos (Jennifer Blood, Vampirella). The series will serve as a prequel to the main KISS series launching this month (see “KISS Returns to Comics”). In small-town Iowa, three young KISS fans meet and form a band, unaware they are about to embark on a journey that will change the fate of the world. Release is planned for January.

Brian Wood (DMZ, The Massive, Briggs Land) will co-write a new John Carter of Mars series with Alex Cox. The art team and release date have not been announced. "The John Carter series is one of the all-time great sci-fi/fantasy epics, and having the opportunity to play in that sandbox is just awesome. Brian's concept is unlike any John Carter story to date, but with a lot of reverence for the world that Burroughs built," said Alex Cox. "Beyond that, we're drawing on everything from Jodorowsky to Jesse Marsh to John Wayne to make this story as cool as possible. I think people are going to love it -- old school superfans, and also people who have no idea what a Rykor is."
