Eagle-Gryphon Games is producing Lisboa, scheduled to release at next year’s Origins game fair.

Created 260 years after the events that inspired it, Lisboa is the creation of Lisbon-native Vital Lacerda (Vinhos, The Gallerist).  The game follows the events of 1755, when an earthquake and tsunami combined to nearly obliterate the city of Lisbon.  After the disaster, the king and the Marquis of Pombal, his minister of foreign affairs, set out to rebuild the city, following a precise and structured design.

As nobles of Lisbon, the players have been tasked with the reconstruction of the city, using their influence and wealth to guide its growth while expanding their own business interests.  Their actions can earn them “wigs,” representing victory points.

Lisboa includes a large tri-fold game board, 4 smaller player boards, 60 goods tokens, 60 coins, 117 tiles, 164 cards, 165 wooden pieces, and two cloth bags.  The game features artwork and illustrations by Ian O’Toole (The Gallerist, Vinhos Deluxe).  The MSRP has tentatively been set at $100.00.

Eagle-Gryphon is funding the project through a Kickstarter campaign, which has broken the $200,000 mark with 14 days remaining.  The campaign does include a retailer-only pledge option.  A representative of the company told ICv2 that the stretch goal contents will likely be used to create thematic expansion packs as separate releases from the base game.

The new edition of Lacerda’s hit game Vinhos, called Vinhos Deluxe was recently released by Eagle-Gryphon (see “A New Pressing of ‘Vinhos’ for 2016”).
