MERCS Miniatures/Megacon Games is revisiting the world of Myth in the new cooperative board game Myth: Dark Frontier, releasing at Gen Con.

In this stand-alone game, players are iconic heroes fighting the forces of the Darkness in the holy city of Farrenroc.  They must build up the city’s defenses while an invading army ravages the lands around the city, ultimately laying siege. The game combines elements of fantasy roleplaying style board games with resource management and a simultaneous action selection mechanic.

Myth: Dark Frontier comes with 1 main game board, 1 objectives board, 15 sculpted plastic miniatures, 1 enemy info sheet, 117 cards, 1 hex tile, 5 custom Fate dice, 6 10-sided dice, and invading army tokens and markers.

The game was designed by Adam and Brady Sadler (Warhammer Quest:  The Adventure Card Game, Walking Dead:  No Sanctuary) for 2 to 4 players.  MSRP is tentatively set at $60.00.

MERCS is funding the project through a Kickstarter campaign which easily reached its $50,000 funding goal in the first 24 hours.

The original Myth made a big splash in 2014 (see “‘Myth’ Fantasy Game”), attracting over $925,000 for its Kickstarter campaign and peaking at number 4 on ICv2’s list of top selling board games that spring (see “Top 10 Board Games--Spring 2014”).
