The Pokemon Company International, the U.S. company that manages the property outside of Asia, has made a strategic investment in Wicked Cool Toys, taken a seat on its board of directors, and awarded it the master toy license worldwide outside of Asia.

Wicked Cool Toys, a relatively young company focusing primarily on licensed toys, will produce action figures, play sets, plush, roleplay items, and other toys based on the animated series.  The first products will hit stores Fall 2018.

The Pokemon Company intimated that this was not the first time the company had taken an ownership position in a licensee.  “The investment in Wicked Cool Toys is in line with the strategic partnership approach The Pokemon Company International engaged in with Niantic Inc., the developers and publishers of Pokemon GO,” the announcement said.

Tomy will continue to produce video-game based products, and other “select items.”
