On July 3, Nemo’s War (2nd Edition) will be released by Victory Point Games.

Inspired by the Jules Verne classic Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, this game by Chris Taylor (Astra Titanus, Legions of Darkness) puts players at the helm of Captain Nemo’s famous submarine, the Nautilus.  During the game, players explore the oceans of the world in search of mysterious treasures and scientific discoveries, while combatting vessels of the imperial powers as part of Nemo’s quest for revenge.

Nemo’s War is a solitaire game with a narrative play structure controlled through the use cards that feature quotes and themes from the Verne novel.  During the course of the adventure, the player uses dice rolls to resolve encounters with other ships, influenced by the resources aboard the Nautilus and the strategic options chosen by the player.  The number of victory points the player collects from various activities during the game determines which “Epilogue” the player reads, which describes the end of Nemo’s tale.  The game also includes a cooperative play variant, which allows up to four players to participate in the game.

The game includes a 17” x 33” game map, a plastic Nautilus token, 45 game cards, 12 wooden cubes, 12 plastic gems, 5 tiles, 5 dice, and 118 markers and tokens.  The game is intended for 1 to 4 players, ages 13 and up, and takes about 2 hours to play.  MSRP is $75.00.

Victory Point Games funded the production of Nemo’s War through a Kickstarter campaign which launched at the very end of 2015, which reached its funding goal in less than 12 hours and attracted a total of $239,918 in pledged support from 3,007 backers (an average of $79.79 per backer).

The company will follow the release of Nemo’s War with Twilight of the Gods:  Age of Revelation, scheduled to release in September (see “‘Twilight of the Gods:  Age of Revelation’”).
