Designed by Tim Armstrong and Justin De Witt (Castle Panic), Kaiju Crush casts players in the roles of giant monsters, out to destroy buildings and fight fellow kaiju for victory points. On their turn, players can either play a Movement Card, or a Shared Movement Card to crush a City Tile (building) on the modular game board. The City Tile is replaced with a Territory Marker, which will eventually yield victory points, depending on the kaiju’s Objective Cards. Monsters also can fight each other, if they’re in an adjacent space. Players draw Territory Markers and then look at the reverse side to see what blows they land during the fight. Each kaiju has unique fighting skills and a special ability that changes every game. The game continues until no monster can move, then the kaiju with the most victory points wins.
The game is for 2 – 4 players, ages 10 and up and plays in 45 minutes. MSRP is $29.95.
Fireside is offering Kaiju Crush Launch Kits for brick-and-mortar retailers. Each kit includes 5 retail copies of the game, 1 demo copy, 5 Oblique-Checkerboard Objective Card promos, a shelf talker, 5 “ask from promo” stickers, and a poster to advertise a demo event. Retailers can order the kits through regular distribution channels.
Fireside’s next release will be Hotshots, a cooperative, press-your-luck fire-fighting game. Fireside recently announced the game’s release will be delayed until summer due to manufacturing setbacks (see “'Hotshots' Co-op Fire-Fighting Game”).
