Italian game publisher Ares Games and Polish publisher Galakta have entered a new distribution partnership.  Under the new agreement, Ares will distribute Galakta’s English language games outside of Europe.

Galakta began in 2004, publishing localized versions of popular games including Ares’ own War of the Ring and The Battle of Five Armies, before expanding into producing their own designs.  The catalog of games Ares will begin distributing includes Age of Thieves, Ragers:  Champions of the Arena, Zombie Terror, Andromeda, and King & Assassins.  At ACD Games Day, a Galakta representative told ICv2 that a limited number of its titles are available through ACD Distribution now, with wide release planned for summer.

Ares will also distribute This War of Mine:  The Board Game, which is based on the hit survival video game by 11bit Studios, when Galakta releases it this summer.  Set in a war-ravaged city, This War of Mine follows the struggles and moral dilemmas faced by civilians trapped by the violence.  This War of Mine:  The Board Game translates the action of the video game onto the tabletop.  It was designed by Michal Oracz (Neuroshima Hex!, Cry Havoc) and Jakub Wisniewski.  Galakta funded the project through a Kickstarter campaign that attracted 9,627 backers who pledged £621,811 (about $800,000).  Ares plans to begin distributing the game in late August or September.

This summer Ares will also release its own new title, The Hunt for the Ring, based on the works of J.R.R. Tokein (see “Ares Previews ‘The Hunt for the Ring’”).
