Drawn & Quarterly has revealed their Winter 2018 lineup, which includes work from Anneli Furmark, John Porcellino, Anna Haifisch, Seiichi Hayashi, Adrian Tomine, and more.
Anneli Furmark examines the intersection of relationships and political discord in Red Winter, an examination of political turmoil and the unexpected love between a married social democrat and a militant Maoist set in late ‘70s Sweden. The 168-page, full-color paperback will be in stores in February 2018 at an MSRP of $24.95. Ignatz Award -winner John Porcellino’s road trip memoir From Lone Mountain explores America in slow motion, collecting stories about Porcellino’s moves about the country originally published in his influential zine King-Cat. The 320-page, black-and-white paperback will be in stores in January 2018. MSRP is $22.95. Anna Haifisch’s Von Spatz explores the insecurities of artists through the fictionalized eyes of Walt Disney, illustrator and satirist Tomi Ungerer, and modernist Saul Steinberg as they recover from artistic burnout at the Von Spatz Rehabilitation Center. The 68-page, full-color paperback will be in stores April 2018. MSRP is $16.95. Red Colored Elegy by Seiichi Hayashi is a product of the Japanese underground scene, an experimental work originally from 1970-1971 that borrows from animation and film to portray a tempestuous relationship between two artists. The 240-page, black-and-white paperback will be available March 2018 at an MSRP of $19.95. Adrian Tomine’s Eisner Award-winning bestseller treatise on parenthood, mortality, and stand-up comedy, Killing and Dying (see “Image, Drawn & Quarterly Dominate Eisners”), gets a new edition in February 2018. The 128-page, full-color paperback has an MSRP of $19.95.Rounding out D&Q’s Winter 2018 lineup are the fifth volume of Shigeru Mizuki’s Kitaro series, Kitaro the Vampire Slayer, and a new volume of Tove Jansson’s Moomin, Moomin Winter. Kitaro Volume 5, a 192-page black-and-white paperback, will be in stores January 2018 for an MSRP of $12.95. The 40-page, full-color, flexi-covered Moomin Winter will be in stores February 2018 for an MSRP of $9.95.
