Renegade Game Studios has announced plans to produce an English version of Planet Defenders, with release scheduled for this fall.

Originally released in Taiwan by EmperorS4 Games, Planet Defenders imagines a future where humanity has colonized the galaxy, but along the way has discarded old robots.  Now this debris is becoming dangerous, and it is up to the Planet Defenders to collect the old robots and prevent them from becoming a danger.

In the game, players use their “batteries” to activate the three defenders, which catch the discarded robots.  The collected robots in turn provide the player with energy and research points which are used to purchase technological advances.

Planet Defenders includes 3 plastic robot miniatures that are new to the Renegade version of the game, along with 9 planet tiles, 3 control tiles, 4 player boards, 63 cubes, 43 cards, and 1 die.  The game is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 10 and up, and takes less than an hour to play.  MSRP is $45.00.  The game was designed by Wei-Min Ling and features art by Maisherly Chan.

The new title joins two other Renegade releases planned for the fall:  Atlas:  Enchanted Lands (see “Uncover the Fairie Realm in ‘Atlas:  Enchanted Lands’”) and Ex Libris (see “Build a Magic Library in ‘Ex Libris’”).
