The legendary tales of King Arthur’s knights form the setting for WizKids’ new adventure board game Lancelot, scheduled to release in October.

In Lancelot, the players are knights of the round table, seeking to prove that they are worthy to be elected “First Knight” by traveling across Britain and having knightly adventures.  During their journeys, they will court ladies, fight enemy knights, and undertake side quests such as seeking the Lady of the Lake, all while avoiding the ire of Morgana.

During the game, the players choose the pace at which they move their pieces, but care must be taken not to fall too far behind the competition, who might gather all the resources before the slower player can reach them.

Lancelot comes with 16 tiles, 90 tokens, 1 Excalibur piece, 85 cards, 16 stickers, and a collection of wooden cylinders and discs.  The game was created by Mario Papini (De Vulgari Eloquentia, Siena), and is intended for 2 to 4 players, ages 14 and up, and takes about 90 minutes to play.  MSRP is $54.99.

Lancelot will be one of five games WizKids plans to release in October (see “‘Who Should We Eat?,’ ‘Empires,’ ‘Favelas’” and “Control the Future in ‘Time Barons’”).
