Tony Isabella is returning to DC Comics for a Black Lighting miniseries.

Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands is a six-issue miniseries written by Isabella and drawn by Clayton Henry (Harbinger). The first issue is due November 1.

Isabella co-created the character with Trevor Von Eeden. Black Lighting debuted in an eponymous series in 1977 and was DC’s first major black superhero.  The character, who has the ability to control electricity, has typically been depicted as a family man and teacher, but Cold Dead Hands will portray him as a younger, unmarried man.

With a new CW series pending (see "Three Comic-Based Shows Picked Up for Series"), the miniseries should serve as an introduction to the character and his major adversary, Tobias Whale.

Cold Dead Hands also marks Isabella’s return to DC.  The creator and publisher recently came to an undisclosed but “mutually-beneficial” agreement about the origins of the character and Isabella’s association with the company (see "Black Lightning Creator and DC Make Up").
