Created by Paul Alexander Butler and George Holland, Overlight will not feature many elements that are common to the majority of fantasy role playing settings. Co-creator Butler described the philosophy behind the setting in a press release: “We want to return a sense of wonder to fantasy roleplaying. Elves and Dwarves and Orcs are great, but we’ve seen them done countless times, and we want to take players someplace they haven’t been before.”
The role playing game will the first title set in the new fantasy world, and Renegade plans to use the Overlight universe in other products in the future. Scott Gaeta, President of Renegade, stated that “The Roleplaying game is a great way to introduce everyone to the [world of] Overlight and the world is so rich that we decided not to stop there. We have a lot of plans for the World of Overlight…”
