Warner Bros. has signed Gavin O’Connor to write the sequel to Suicide Squad, and are likely to sign him to direct as well, according to Variety. O’Connor’s last feature was The Accountant, which did well for what it was (see “Stars Shine as ‘The Accountant’ Crushes ‘Max Steel’”); he’s also signed to direct Green Hornet (see “’The Green Hornet’ Set for Movie Reboot”).
The Suicide Squad sequel is supposed to go into production this year, a schedule that’s going to be tough to keep if O’Connor is just starting a script. The plan is for the Suicide Squad sequel to be released before a spin-off featuring Joker and Harley Quinn (see “Joker + Harley Forever”).
