The battles of conquest in Days of Wonder’s popular game Small World are moving upwards in the Small World:  Sky Islands expansion, which will premier at the Spiel fair in Essen, Germany before being released in North America this December.

Sky Islands offers players new lands to conquer in the form of floating islands that drift high above the Small World battlefield.  The conquering armies can now assault these floating lands, and anyone who can control an entire island will receive bonus coins.  The expansion also features seven new races and seven new race abilities, including Scavengers and Storm Giants.

Small World:  Sky Islands comes with a double-sided game board, 7 race banners, 7 special power badges, 94 race tokens, 24 other tokens, 1 summary sheet, and a storage tray to help organize the new pieces.  As an expansion, Sky Islands requires a copy of the base game to play, and supports games with 3 to 6 players.  MSRP is $30.00.

Last year, Days of Wonder expanded Small World with the water-themed River World expansion (see “‘Small World’ Battles Expand In ‘River World’”).
