IDW Publishing and comics historian Craig Yoe are releasing the great Popeye tales of Bud Sagendorf in a paperback edition.
Popeye: The Great Comic Book Tales by Bud Sagendorf collects several of Sagendorf’s Popeye comics from the 1940s and 1950s. Yoe curates the 180-page, full-color trade paperback, which features the spinach-eating strongman sailor, the Sea Hag, Bluto, Olive Oyl, Wimpy, and Sweepea. The volume is due in stores Januray 23 for an MSRP of $19.99.
Sagendorf began writing and drawing Popeye comic books in 1948 and continued doing so for more than 20 years. He also drew the daily trip from 1959 until 1986 and drew the Sunday strip until his death in 1994.
