Greg Rucka and Michael Lark’s dystopian comic series has a new development deal. Amazon has signed a deal for Lazarus, Rucka and Lark’s near-future sci-fi series from Image Comics about a one-person kill squad. The drama series is part of Amazon’s push for genre fare (see “Robert Kirkman Leaves AMC”) and will be produced by Rucka, Lark, and Angela Cheng Caplan. No further details have been revealed.

Lazarus had previously been picked up for TV by Legendary’s Matt Tolmach (see “Geek TV News Round-Up”). The Eisner-nominated series is also being adapted into a role playing game from Green Ronin Publishing (see “Greg Rucka's 'Lazarus' Converted to RPG”).

The Lazarus deal news comes by way of Deadline, which also reports that series based on Larry Niven’s Ringworld and Neal Stephenson’s Snow Crash are also in development. Syfy had once planned to develop Ringworld for a minseries (see “Syfy Developing 'The Test'”).
