BOOM! Studios has announced that the Fence limited series will be upgraded to an ongoing series. Written by best-selling novelist C.S. Pacat (Captive Prince) and drawn by Johanna The Mad, the series will enter ongoing territory with its fifth issue, out in April.

The release of Fence #5 will coincide with Fence Vol. 1: Discover Now Edition, a comic store-exclusive collection of the first four issues in the series that will be limited to the initial print run and never reprinted. MSRP for the collection, which features a cover from Shanen Pae, is $9.99.

A standard edition of the collection is slated for July. It will feature a different cover and additional behind-the-scenes content. MSRP is $9.99.

Fence centers on the fencing team at an all-boys school. It features LGBTQ characters and appeals to fans of both sports manga and teen soap opera (see “Fencing, Fantasy, and the Fantastic Four”). It debuted on the BOOM! Box imprint in November.
