The CW and Syfy have dropped new promo shots for their upcoming DC adaptations, Black Lightning and Krypton.

CW brings the thunder -- literally -- in its promo shot, which reveals Thunder, the superhero alterego of Black Lightning’s eldest daughter Anissa, who is played by Nafessa Williams (Twin Peaks). Cress Williams (Heart of Dixie) stars as Black Lightning / Jefferson Pierce, who was created for DC Comics by writer Tony Isabella and artist Trevor Von Eeden (see “Black Lightning Creator and DC Make Up”). The show debuts January 16 (see “Bryan Fuller Exits 'American Gods,' 'Umbrella Academy,' 'Scalped,' 'MST3K,' 'Black Lightning' Debut”).

Syfy has released new promo shots for Krypton, spotlighting members of the House of El. The shots feature main character Seg-El (Superman’s grandfather, played by Cameron Cuffe) and his mom Charys-El (Paula Malcomson), Val-El (Ian McElhinney) with a younger Seg-El, Kem (Rasmus Hardiker), Dev-Em (Aaron Pierre), Quex Ul (Gordon Alexander), and Kol-Da (Andrea Vasiliou). The series takes place two generations before Superman’s home planet is destroyed and focuses on Seg-El's attempts to redeem the honor of the House of El. It debuts on March 21 (see "More 'Gifted,' More George R.R. Martin, 'Game Of Thrones' Final Season, 'Krypton' Debut").
