Steamforged Games was showing off the first two expansion sets for its licensed Dark Souls:  The Board Game at the New York Toy Fair.  The Black Dragon Kalameet and Guardian Dragon expansions will ship to backers of the game’s Kickstarter campaign starting in June, with release into the trade to follow about three months after.

The dungeon-crawl style, miniatures-heavy board game was released last year after a highly successful Kickstarter campaign (at one point reaching the number two slot for largest tabletop game Kickstarters—see “Preview:  ‘Dark Souls:  The Board Game’”).

The two expansions, the first of a series of six “Boss Expansions” described in the Kickstarter campaign, will each feature a large-sized model of a dragon, as well as the game materials needed to use them in the game.  The models are supplied unpainted, and some assembly is required.

Specific release dates and MSRP have not been announced.

Steamforged was also previewing another miniatures-based board game called Godtear at Toy Fair (see “Steamforged’s New Miniatures-based Board Game ‘Godtear’”).
