Pantheon Books will celebrate the Marvel-ous work of Alex Ross with a new art book. Marvelocity: The Marvel Comics Art of Alex Ross, a 304-page, full-color retrospective, will be in stores on October 2. MSRP for the hardcover is $50.00.
Marvelocity features an introduction by filmmaker J.J. Abrams and collects more than 50 unpublished sketches and other artwork featuring Marvel characters. It also includes a new 10-page story that pits Spider-Man against the Sinister Six. The art book is compiled and designed by Chip Kidd with Geoff Spear.
Ross, who released Mythology, a coffee table book featuring DC properties, with Kidd and Spear in 2003, has recently been working exclusively for Marvel. In late February, Ross was announced as the cover artist on the new Captain America series from journalist and Black Panther writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and artist Leinil Yu (Phoenix Ressurection) (see "Ta-Nehisi Coates Writes 'Captain America'").
